San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital is Collecting Toys for Tots

The holidays will be a little bit merrier for local families, thanks to the Associates at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital, who are collecting gifts for the Toys for Tots program.

The community can participate in the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital Toys for Tots program by dropping off a new, unwrapped toy at the hospital. Some of the toys collected in previous years include dolls, model car sets, craft kits, board games, stuffed animals, and even blankets and clothes for infants and toddlers.

Please drop off your new, unwrapped toy to the SGMH Cafeteria by Friday, December 13.

Last year, 278 toys were collected at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital – 128 more than what Associates collected in 2011.

“San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital has donated to Toys for Tots for the past few years,” said Lynn Gomez, Executive Director of Human Resources. “We picked this program because all toys stay in our local area for our local children. Our community gives so much to SGMH that we decided to give back to them in this fashion.”

In addition to the Toys for Tots drive, in 2012, Hospital Associates also participated in the Winter Wish program, and donated items to the Alternatives to Domestic Violence organization.

SGMH Nursing Administration and other staff members “adopted” two local families for the Winter Wish program, giving them wrapped clothing and toys. The Winter Wish program identifies local Beaumont families in need of assistance, and pairs them with local businesses, organizations, and individuals who can help their “winter wishes” come true.

Hospital Associates also donated warm clothes, towels, toiletries, and other necessities to families at the local domestic violence shelter, through the Alternatives to Domestic Violence organization in Riverside County.

“All of the items donated stay local,” Pat Brown, Chief Nursing Officer, said. “It’s wonderful for our Associates to give back to the communities we live and work in.”
