Where Can We Dispose of Old Medications?

What do you do with old, expired medications? Prince Nnah, the Director of the Pharmacy at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital, wants to remind you of your options.

In California, medication can be safely disposed of at home when following the state’s official methods.

Just a reminder, DON’T FLUSH meds down the toilet! It can be very harmful for the environment.

The State has come up with simple ways to dispose of medication at home.

According to Janet Moreland, Recycling Specialist for Riverside County Waste Management Department, residents can dispose of unwanted medications through their regular trash disposal that goes into the landfill. How to Dispose of Unwanted Medications

Additionally, the Department of Justice has two free take back events each year for residents. These collection events are held at local law enforcement agencies like the Beaumont Police Department and Riverside County Sheriff. Take Back Events
