The San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital Auxiliary was recently named the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital Foundation’s “Perfect Partner” for 2011.

At the recent Foundation dinner, held in February at the Casino Morongo Resort and Spa, the hospital’s many volunteers were honored for their years of service.

“San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is the heart and soul of the hospital,” said Jessica Marquez, Foundation Director.

Supervisor Marion Ashley presented the Auxiliary with a proclamation for their dedication. Auxiliary Co-Presidents Hetty Doesburg and Beverly Lewis accepted the recognition from Supervisor Ashley.

In 2011, volunteers donated 34,592 hours of their time. The average hours for the past 10 years are 35,125.

Long-time volunteer Dolores Jones has been donating her time for 23 years, with 17,059 hours donated.

Three other volunteers have been with the hospital for more than 20 years, and another three have volunteered for more than 15 years, in various areas of the hospital.

“On behalf of the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital Foundation, I am delighted to share that the 28th Annual Dinner had approximately 280 attendees and raised more than $60,000,” Marquez said.

Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase equipment for the hospital’s new Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit.

In the past two years, the Foundation has raised about $400,000 for equipment and hospital programs. Many San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital associates have contributed to this number by participating in events and investing in the hospital.
